Arrival

Task

To tell a story of our own, with North Kiteboarding as a partner: a film about kitesurfing that aims for more than action.

Idea

“Arrival” is a personal look at wild camping in Tarifa. Travel, water sports, van life, dropping out, minimalism: it is about restlessness and about arriving. Arriving not as a place, but as something that happens within you and takes time. The sea stands for constant change and for calm at the same time.

Execution

Everything under one roof, from idea and concept to shoot and post-production. Shot on the coast around Tarifa, on the road with a van and a board. A short documentary of around twelve minutes that is more philosophical narrative than classic reportage. Plus a trailer and vertical cutdowns.

Impact

The film was distributed through festivals, and it went far: five awards, including Best Documentary Film at the European Cinematography Awards and Best Travel Film three times (Berlin Indie, Kiez Berlin, Cine Paris), plus an Honorable Mention at NATOURALE, a Best Travel Film nomination at the Cannes World Film Festival and further selections up to 2024. On top of that, interviews in person and online.
